There’s a lot more to social media marketing than liking & putting up pictures once or twice a week. Having a social media presence for your company is crucial to business and brand in this decade, whether it’s selling products or services to friends, strangers or businesses. But one obnoxious insert, picture or comment can make for disaster.

It’s happened with many corporates, making them apologize and sidestep quickly, it’s not easy to bomb your social media presence, but if you do it’s something customers will never forget.

Your social media campaign needs to be run professionally and be part of the larger marketing plan. Social media accounts need to not only embody the company but its image and brand essence.

Ensure that your social campaign is run by an experienced team well versed and immersed in the company culture and brand. It may also be a good idea to make sure the social team has been on a few basic strategic marketing sessions and isn’t just someone’s secretary who is “good with Facebook”

There’s a lot of accountability that comes with running the company social media account. In fact, it’s a lot more complicated than it looks, especially if it’s for a corporate. As an FB individual, you can practically post or publish what you like. Anything that is posted on your company social media page is seen by everyone.

Companies must be engaging, interesting and relevant to get users to engage and click on their links. Comments and images must relate to and respect the corporate function and brand. Don’t allow posts that will later have to be apologized for, ensure you have a professional at your Social media helm.
